Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson’s nationwide talent search, “Road to NYC,” for child and adult comedians culminated at Carolines on Broadway on May 6 with a grand finale shows after showcases in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Los Angels, Las Vegas and Miami.

As part of the “Road to NYC” talent search, two youth winners and two adult winners attended SNL on May 5 (the kids attended the dress rehearsal and the adults attended the live show) that was hosted by Donald Glover and featured musical guest, Glover’s alter ego, Childish Gambino.  At the shows, Kenan personally met with all of the winners.

At the “Road to NYC” grand finale kids show at Carolines on Broadway, there was a special performance at the kids show by Russell Horning, a.k.a. “The Backpack Kid,” best known for his SNL appearance last season wth musical guest Katy Perry.   On the adult show, which was hosted by Kenan, his SNL cast mate Leslie Jones and Roy Wood, Jr. from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah both dropped in and performed hilarious stand-up sets for the crowd.

“I’m so thrilled that we have engaged so many talented performers at our various events across the country!,” Kenan said.  “We’ve found some great comedians during our search.”

“Road to NYC,” which launched in 2011, is produced by Kenan and Cherie Chiles-Buchanan of Atlanta-based Simply C Productions, LLC.
