The Ms. Foundation for Women and Carolines on Broadway teamed up once again for the 21st Annual Comedy Night at Carolines on October 25.  The evening, which was themed “Laughing Our Way to the Revolution!,” was hosted by the hilarious Judy Gold, who pulled no punches when discussing Donald Trump.  ”I hate that orange piece of s***… more than Toledo!”   The hilarious show also included performances by Kate Clinton, Katie Goodman, Aparna Nancherla, Hadiyah Robinson, Liza Treyger, Michelle Wolf, and Sasheer Zamata.  Clinton pulled the ultimate bait-and-switch when stated:  ”I’m very sorry to say this is the last comedy event for the Ms. Foundation here at Carolines…” which was met by a collective sigh from the audience.   But she quickly finished her statement:  ”… without a woman as president of the United States!”  The relieved audience quickly broke out into wild applause.

The mission of the Ms. Foundation for Women builds women’s collective power to realize a nation of justice for all.  The Ms. Foundation’s work is guided by its vision of a just and safe world where power and possibility are not limited by gender, race, class, sexual orientation, disability or age.  The Ms. Foundation believes that equality and inclusion are the cornerstones of a true democracy in which the worth and dignity of every person are valued.

Comedians Prove That Hindsight Is More Than Just 20/20

Your typical Tuesday night likely does not include hearing a story of someone being dry humped by a child at a Southern Baptist church pool party. But, then again, a night at Carolines on Broadway is never typical, especially when Dan Perlman and Billy Prinsell host their stand-up show, Hindsight.

Prinsell describes Hindsight as a “story-telling show with an interactive component where a comedian will come to the stage and tell a story. During the story, Dan and I may interject with our own questions, asking the comedian to clarify something or delve a little more into an aspect of their story.”

The duo developed the concept for the show from their experiences at stand-up open mic around the city. “We would see somebody on stage with some premise, and they were floundering in silence. To help them along, we would ask some questions to get them going on some fun route,” Perlman added. “It keeps the audience alert, because we assure that the story never drags on or gets boring. It’s a very free-form experience, where the audience is very much welcome to participate.”

The  June 7 show featured six prominent New York comedians, whose stories ranged from ruining a television game show to spontaneously helping a 100 year-old woman in her creepy basement in Park Slope. Whatever the story was, Perlman and Prinsell were sure to keep the audience hanging on every word and the comedians on their toes.

Hindsight with Dan Perlman and Billy Prinsell is performed monthly.  The next show takes place on Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30 PM and features comedians Vladimir Caamano, Joe Machi, Drew Michael, Giulia Rozzi, and Roy Wood, Jr.   Purchase tickets here or call our Box Office at 212.757.4100 for reservations.
