Griffin Newman is an actor, comedian, writer, and power forward specializing in rebounds born and raised in New York City. In 2013 he was selected as one of the “New Faces of Comedy” at the Just For Laughs Montreal Festival, and has proceeded to sleep a lot since then. In 2014 he appeared regularly on MTV’s Nikki & Sara LIVE as their Resident Entertainment Correspondent up until that show got canceled which probably wasn’t his fault. In 2009 he developed and performed a one-person show called Grifftopia at Ars Nova, which his parents thought was pretty good. He’s currently a member of the UCB sketch team NIPSEY and co-hosts The Phantom Podcast with critic David Sims for UCB Comedy’s podcast network. As an actor Griffin specializes in handing paperwork to more famous actors onscreen, such as Kevin Costner in Draft Day, Jesse Eisenberg in Night Moves, Donnie Wahlberg on Blue Bloods, and Carla Gugino on the USA miniseries Political Animals. He also did non-paperwork stuff in the movies Free The Nipple, Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List, and Buttwhistle, all of which are real titles of real movies that cost money to make. He can currently be seen in Colin Quinn’s web series Cop Show, and can next be seen in SXSW Grand Jury Prize winner Fort Tilden and Martin Scorsese’s new upcoming (still untitled) series for HBO. He’s also thinking about getting a dog.
