Anthony Jeselnik and Norm Macdonald added to Last Comic Standing!
After rumors of yet another cancellation, it was announced earlier today by USA Today that NBC’s Last Comic Standing will return for another season later this year with new host Anthony Jeselnik and judge Norm Macdonald, both of whom headlined Carolines on Broadway in 2014. Jeselnik will replace season eight host J.B. Smoove while Macdonald will fill former judge Russell Peters’s shoes in season nine. Season eight judges Rosanne Barr and Keenan Ivory Wayans will return to their roles and Executive Producer Wanda Sykes will continue her role behind the scenes.
Last Comic, which returned in 2014 after three years off the air, will feature six less episodes than last season. Season nine will also feature celebrity guest appearances and a new head-to-head segment, according to USA Today.
Throughout the years, Last Comic Standing finalists and winners have seen a great deal of success following the show. Former winners of Last Comic Standing include upcoming Carolines headliners Rod Man and Iliza Shlesinger. Another future Carolines headliner, Craig Robinson hosted season seven of the show in 2010.
